Millie-isms

This little girl of mine is getting funnier by the second. You can usually understand what she is trying to say (okay, I can since I'm around her all day), but it does sound like she has her own little language. She jumps up and down all day long and says "I jump high". When Ryan gets home from work she wants to play "I'll get you" which is where she has him chase her around our kitchen island while saying that. And the girl is obsessed with her "animals" - she can't go to bed without them, or get out of bed without them! I just wanted to share a few recent funny encounters we've had.

1). I went to lunch with my sister the other day at Zupa's. With your lunch you get a chocolate covered strawberry, and Millie managed to snag it off the tray and started eating it right when we sat down. I was talking with my sister and the next thing I knew the strawberry was gone....she'd eaten the stem and all! I started cracking up because I knew Mil didn't know not to eat that part. The best thing is she requested another strawberry, so Mindy was nice and gave Millie hers as well. This time I cut the stem part off before I gave her the strawberry. Mil ate the whole thing pretty quick, and I looked down just in time to see her grab the stem I had cut off, and she was putting it in her mouth again. Apparently she likes stems!
2). We've had fun teaching her about Christmas this year and all that goes with it. She is a big fan of Santa, snowmen, and reindeer. Lately when I've gone to wake her up in the morning, or from a nap, the first words out of her mouth when she's still half asleep have been "Santa nice" or "reindeer". It makes me laugh and wonder what she's dreaming about.
3). Yesterday I was getting her dressed for the day and I asked her who she wanted to play with today. She named 2 of her friends, and then she said "Papa Bruce" which is what she's started calling my dad. I thought it was cute that she was requesting to play with him.
4). We've recorded a few Christmas shows for Millie, such as The Grinch, the Mickey Mouse version of Scrooge, a Disney show called Prep and Landing, and some others. She is now requesting these shows by name and pretty much has them memorized. She will say parts of the next line before it happens and sings the songs, and it totally cracks me up. I know that's not unusual for kids, but seriously she just started watching these shows...to me, that's catching on pretty quick!
5). She loves to play in the tub and I think she'd stay in there all night if we let her. I've noticed that the latest thing she likes to do in there is use her washcloth as a blanket for a frog decal she has. She will lay it over the frog in the water and will tell him "night night".
6). Ryan came home with a new pair of basketball shoes, and Millie started to get really excited and was saying something we didn't understand. She ran up to the orange box the shoes were in and said "pizza"...apparently we order pizza a little too much. Needless to say, she was a bit disappointed when we opened up the box and showed her shoes instead of a pizza!
I am very excited for Christmas this year, especially to watch Millie's reaction that morning. She is going to be so cute when she opens up her gifts. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
